At TrainSMART, we understand that delegation can be a difficult skill for managers to master. That’s why we offer a delegation skills training workshop to help managers overcome their reluctance to delegate. There are many reasons why managers may be reluctant to delegate responsibilities that affect the achievement of organizational goals.
These reasons can range from a lack of skill to a need for control, and they can vary from manager to manager. However, delegation is a crucial skill for any manager who wants to be successful.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to identify your personal roadblocks to delegation, execute the five steps to effective delegation, and distinguish between what should and should not be delegated.
You’ll also have the opportunity to practice delegation in a safe and supportive environment. Whether you’re new to delegation or looking to brush up on your skills, TrainSMART’s delegation workshop is an excellent way to learn how to delegate effectively.

Delegation Skills Training Outline
Module 1: This module will help participants identify their personal roadblocks to using delegation more often.
Common roadblocks that need to control, are perfectionism, lack of organizational skills, and guilt or fear of asking others for help. Emotional roadblocks must be cleared before effective delegation skills can be learned.
Module 2: This module will include the use of a performance management tool. We will review DiSC®. If organizations have not done DiSC®, we recommend the use of the Personal Profile System here. The performance management tool will help managers identify the style preferences of employees, their willingness, and their ability to do a task, so managers can target their communication for increased effectiveness.
Module 3: This module will help participants understand and practice the five steps to effective delegation. We will also practice giving effective feedback to improve the performance of delegated tasks.
Module 4: This module will help managers understand tasks that can and cannot be delegated. We will also look at delegation as a skill development tool for employees.
